Says Garman, "Now (that I have made my commitment) I can focus on football and being a better Quarterback."
The signal caller was being courted by several top programs from across the country that include: Arizona, Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, North Carolina, Louisiana State, Georgia, Texas Tech, Oregon, Oregon State, Iowa, Tulsa, and UCLA. The list has recently being growing daily.
Garman hadn't planned on making his commitment this early, but after attending a Junior Day and a game at Arizona, Garman says, "It was the perfect fit for me."
He continues, "If I didn't have the opportunity to play football, I would still want this to be the place I would spend the next 4 years of my life."
As a Wildcat Garman will have the chance to work alongside and learn from several great quarterbacks before the reigns are handed over to him. They include: Matt Scott, Nick Foles, Richard Morrison, Andrew McDonald, Bryson Beirne, and new recruit Cameron Allerheiligen.
The 6'2", 175 lbs Quarterback averaged 234 yards per game with a 64% completetion percentage in 2009. He had 134 completions in 210 attempts and has thrown for 2,107 yards and 24 TD's, and 7 INT's. He finished the season with a QB rating of 120. (Note this was in 9 games).
We asked Daxx who he thought some of the best quarterbacks that he has had the chance to see this past year. Without hesitation, his response, "Brayden Scott (Tulsa, Oklahoma), Grady Sullivan (Southlake, Texas), and Randy Beggs (Temecula, CA), those guys will be good."
For those of you who don't know those three names, wait a few years and you will. Two of them have not even started high school. A surprising statement from the Quarterback who has had the chance to compete next to some of the best (he participated in the Army National Combine and was one of the select few who was invited to participate in the National Under Armour Combine).
What are his plans for the summer?
He comments, "I plan to spend the spring and summer working out hard with Coach D (Joe Dickinson, his private quarterback coach) and getting ready for my senior year." Continuing, "I'll probably attend a few camps, definately the Arizona Wildcats camp and possibly a DeBartolo Camp."
Says Dickinson (Daxx's private Quarterback Coach)on his commitment, "I am really pleased for Daxx, his family, and the University of Arizona. He (Daxx Garman) is a great young man who in my eyes is the total package. I think he is one of the top quarterbacks in the 2011 class, if not the top one. He has put in the work with us here at DeBartolo Sports University and it has really paid off."
Garman's family is happy and excited for him, and why shouldn't they be, Daxx looks to be the future of Arizona Football.
