As a member of the Huskies, Smith played in three straight Rose Bowls, and in 1991 won the National Championship as a junior.
Following college, Smith coached for six years for the Bellevue Bears and was involved in the University of Washington's 'Straight from the Gate' program as a speaker to the incoming freshman class for five years.
Relocating to Long Beach, Smith became the defensive coordinator for Snoop Dogg's Diamond Bar Raiders. Following that he moved on to become the varsity defensive line coach for his alma mater, Long Beach Poly.
Smith is heading into his third year of coaching USC's high school football camps. He has also been involved in many NIKE Sparq training programs.
